Xiaomi Redmi 2 with 64-bit Snapdragon 410 Soc and multiple 4G LTE connectivity

As expected, Xiaomi has officially announced the Xiaomi Redmi 2 which will succeed the original Redmi 1S model. Both models share some similar specs with some other changes made to give the device the sequel tag.

The Xiaomi Redmi 2 has the same 1GB of RAM, 4.7-inch 720 x 1280 pixels display, 8GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot that allows expandable storage up to 64GB and the 8MP camera with LED flash. The processor has been upped to the 64-bit enabled Qualcomm snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) processor with Adreno 306 GPU replacing the Snapdragon 400 and Adreno 305 GPU.

The front camera has also been adjusted to 2MP front camera; Dual SIM functionality; it runs on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS with MIUI6 ontop and packs a 2200mAh battery. The Xiaomi Redmi 2 supports multiple LTE connectivity carrier networks – GSM, WCDMA, FDD-LTE and TD-LTE which means it would connect to 4G-LTE networks in China (China Unicom, China Telecom and China Mobile).

The Xiaomi Redmi 2 is available for pre-order for 699 Yuan ($113 or N21,000 in Naira) in Black, Green, Pink, White and Yellow colour options. The device would be available for the first flash sales on January 9th. Mark that date on your calender as Xiaomi is also expected to announced the successor to the Xiaomi Redmi Note phablet – (Redmi Note 2); the Xiaomi MiPad 2 or yet unveil unveil its next flagship device which could be the Xiaomi Mi 4S or Xiaomi Mi 5.
