Tizen OS running Samsung Z1 launching this week in India for Rs 5700

Samsung is expected to launch the long awaited handset with the in-house developed Tizen OS. Even though the original smartphone expected to run on the Tizen OS, the Samsung Z has been suspended. The Samsung Z1 would now hold the title of the first Samsung handset announced with the Tizen OS if these recent leaks are to go by.

The Samsung Z1 is expected to be available in India stores this week. According to Mumbai based retailer, MAHESH Telecom posted along the smartphone and specs with the post saying the device would be in stock by tomorrow (January 14) only for the post to be pulled off after.

In a separate report, the South Korean company is said to have sent a press invite for a press event in New Dehli where the announcement is expected to be held tomorrow (January 14).

There have been some changes in the specification details of the device – it is now expected to sport 768MB of RAM instead of 1GB, Bluetooth 4.1 instead of 4.0, storage expandability is up from 32GB to 64GB and the main camera is now a 3.1MP one instead of the earlier listed 3MP. It would also come with a dedicated Tizen Store which several apps can be accessible including popular messaging app, Whatsapp, UCWEB for Tizen, etc.

The Samsung Z1 is expected to feature a 4-inch WVGA TFT LCD display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Spreadtrum SC7727S processor with Mali 400 GPU with 768MB RAM, 4GB space of internal storage and a microSD card slot for storage expansion. There is a front facing VGA camera and rear facing 3.1MP camera with LED flash.

The Samsung Z1 weighs 112 grams, measures 9.7mm in thickness and runs on Tizen OS 2.3. It supports 3G connectivity as well as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth and A-GPS. A 1500mAh battery keeps the device ticking plus software features such as ‘Ultra Power Saving Mode’ and it supports Dual SIM functionality.

This new report coincides with the the already available report which slated a January 18 launch date whilst also tipping a 100,000 Korean Won (roughly RS 5712 or $92). Now that the Indian launch date is upon us, it is expected to be available in China by February and in Korea by the first-half of 2015.
