As expected, Microsoft has announced it is building an entirely new web browser for the Windows 10 platform. The browser (codenamed – Spartan or Project Spartan) would replace the internet explorer as the official browser for the OS.
Spartan is said to use a new rendering i.e new ways to interact with online content and new engines. Microsoft didn’t confirm if the Spartan browser would actually replace the long-time Internet explorer, but reliable leaks suggests both browser would co-habit together.
The browser basically comes with a refreshed look which takes it into competition with the likes of Chrome and Firefox. It would come with a reading mode which makes reading easier, the UI has been simplified and it would come integrated with personal assistant feature – Cortana, which is there to make things easier for you like answering question, giving directions and the likes.
Project Spartan browser would be available on Smartphones, tablets, notebooks and also available for PCs without touchscreen display. It would be available to members of the Windows Insider Program in upcoming preview builds for Windows for the PC version.
The final name for the browser is not known yet but it would subsequently be made available for mobile too.
