Microsoft announces the Windows Holographic and the Windows HoloLens VR headset

At the Windows 10 OS unveiling event, Microsoft announced it is joining the Virtual Reality (VR) world with the standalone Windows HoloLens. Unlike most of the available VR headset, this would come with more advanced features. And there is also the Windows Holographic which is an API open to developers to create holographic experience in the real world.

The windows HoloLens is touted as the first untethered holographic computer – no PC, Phones or Wires. It allows for viewing holograms in high definition and hear them in surrounding sounds. It has a high end Graphics Processsing Unit (GPU) and Central Processing Unit (CPU) – or a HPU as Microsoft calls it – Holographic Processing Unit (HPU).

When HoloLens is paired with Microsoft Holographic on the HoloStudio app, it lets users create a new Holographic experience on the device; it also lets them preview the creations and print it. ‎

There is no word on when the Microsoft HoloLens, the Microsoft Holographic as well as the HoloStudio app would go official but it would be available around the same time the Windows 10 OS finally makes its debut. We will be holding for more information on this new piece. ‎
