Google announces Cherry mobile Uno and MyPhone Uno Android One smartphones in the Philippines

Google has expanded its Android One program to the Philippines and the smartphones would be available in coming weeks. Google kicked off the Android One program last year in India and so far the device’s have also been made available in Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Indonesia. The Philippines would be the sixth country to get such program.

Google has released the Cherry Mobile Uno and MyPhone Uno which both run Android 5.0 Lollipop out-of-the-box; both phones would be updated to Android 5.1 Lollipop as soon as they are released. Both smartphones has same specs with the Android One smartphones launched in other countries.

Cherry Mobile Uno and MyPhone Uno Key Specs

• OS – Android 5.0 Lollipop (upgradeable to Android 5.1 Lollipop Soon)
• Display – 4.5-inch FWVGA display
• Processor – 1.3GHz Quad-core processor
• Memory – 1GB RAM
• Storage – 8GB on the Cherry Mobile Uno; 4GB on the Myphone Uno
• Camera – 5MP main camera with LED flash and 2MP front facing
• Battery – 1700mAh

To sweeten the deal, Google has partnered with Local service providers in the country – Smart and Sun Cellular  to provide free OTA (over-the-air) updates to both device (up to 100MB/month). The would also provide free app downloads from Google Play worth 200MB per month for the first six month of purchase.
