Google-owned Blogger bans sexually explicit adult contents

Google owned free blogging platform, Blogger has announced that henceforth it is no longer allowing sexually explicit contents on the platform. 

The company has issues a March 23rd deadline to bloggers which would not only affect the new blogs, older blogs would also follow that same path. Bloggers have to remove all of their explicit contents (both images and videos) if they still want to remain on the platform or mark themselves as private before it gets done for you. 

After March 23rd, Blogger would be turning all blogs with sexually explicit images and videos into private blogs and they would be removed from the search engine. Once they are turned into private blogs, only the owners and admins of the site as well as users the contents are shared with can access the contents on the platform. 

Google claims it would still accept nudity if the contents are of substantial benefit to the public in these forms – artistic, educational, documentary, or scientific contexts.

Blogger used to accept Adult content of all forms under its previous policies which allowed users mark their blogs as ‘Adult’. And a warning usually pops up to any visitor to the site prompting them that they are visiting an Adult rated website. 

For those willing to archive their content or export their blogs to the likes of WordPress and Tumblr can use the Google Takeout tool. This recent changes might push users towards using Tumblr which also tried the same measures but had to make a u-turn due to backlash from the social network’s users.
