IKEA to offer Table and Lamps that supports Qi wireless charging

After taking some time to gain a foothold, major smartphone manufacturers are starting to incorporate Wireless charging into their smartphones – the flagship ones for now. World’s Largest Furniture Retailer, IKEA has announced it would be offering Table and Lamps that wirelessly recharge smartphones (they come with wireless charging spots). For those who don’t know, IKEA is a multinational company which designs and sells ready-made furnitures, home accessories and appliances.

IKEA as part of its commitment to making homes smarter, it is offering floor, table and work lamps that comes with wireless charging spots. The company also has beside lamps offering and some selection of pads which add more charging locations to your home.

These lamps and tablets all support Qi Wireless standard which is said to be the leader in the industry; this means it is compatible with most smartphones out there. IKEA also has wireless charging covers for iPhones and Samsung Galaxy S smartphones which would see both models use the furniture to charge up.

The wireless charging lamps and bedside tables would be available in UK IKEA stores starting mid-april for £30 ($46). It would also be available in the US (US IKEA Stores) around the same time frame for a price yet to be announced.
