The most interesting thing about these smartphones is the fact that they would have Samsung’s in-house Exynos processor only in them which means we won’t be seeing any Qualcomm Snapdragon model this year. Samsung also made some sudden changes to its flagship Galaxy S smartphone line; gone are the days of plastic body with the company opting for metal but this also came with some sacrifices as there is no microSD card slot on-board again and the battery is no longer user replaceable.

Both models sport an 64-bit enabled Octa-core Exynos processor with 3GB of RAM, Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, fingerprint sensor, heart rate monitor, and up to 128GB space of internal storage. The Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge has basically the same specs, with the latter having curved screen edges bent on both sides.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 sports a 5.1-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) 2K Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4, 3GB LPDDR4 RAM and 32GB/64GB/128GB space of internal storage which makes use of UFS 2.0 storage tech for fater read and write processes. The device is powered by the Samsung Exynos 7420 which is developed using the 14nm process and FinFETT technology. The processor has four cortex-A57 cores @ 2.1GHz and four cortex-A53 cores at 1.5GHz and is paired with Mali T760 GPU.

The device has a 16MP OIS main camera with LED flash, 4K recording and fast tracking; the front camera is a 5MP unit with  f/1.9 aperture and support for real time HDR Connectivity options on the device includes – 802.11 ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, IR Blaster, GPS, GLONASS and LTE Cat.6.

Both the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge run Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with Samsung’s redesigned TouchWiz UI ontop. The Galaxy S6 uses a 2550mAh battery; the Galaxy S6 Edge a 2600mAh battery; both smartphones can be used for around four hours on 10 minutes charge. The battery comes with fast charging tech and can be charged wirelessly by Qi and Rezence standard.

Samsung also announced the its Apple Pay and Google Wallet rival, Samsung Pay which uses Near Field Communication and Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) which allows it to be more flexible than the Apple Pay which uses only NFC. Unlike the Apple Pay which is only available in the US, Samsung Pay would launch in south Korea and US first then Europe and China would get it at a later date.
