The rumours of an upcoming budget smartphone from Xiaomi has refused to die since the end of last year. A China Mobile Executive has finally put to bed the rumours of the upcoming smartphone, through his Weibo account he posted the photo and technical specifications of the device (name unknown).
The upcoming Xiaomi Budget Smartphone is expected to feature a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display, powered by a quad-core Lead Core LCI LC1860C CPU with dual-core Mali T628 GPU for handling graphics. It has just 1GB of RAM for handling tasks, 8GB space of internal storage and a microSD card slot for storage expansion.
Handling photography on the device is a 13MP camera with Single LED flash and a front facing 2MP camera. The device supports TD-LTE / LTE FDD /TD-SCDMA / WCDMA / GSM / EDGE networks. The device can only support LTE Cat.4 at the maximum which offers up to 150Mbps peak data rate.
Taking a closer look at the device, it is made from plastic body and is looking to join other Xiaomi Red Rice Series (Redmi series) from the company. The speaker is at the top of the device, the volume buttons stay at the side and the power on/off key on the usual right side.
The CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun claims the company is not looking to release any device worth CNY 399 ($64), this only means that the upcoming Xiaomi Budget smartphone would cost above that maybe CNY 499 ($80) or even more than that. We’ll keep our fingers crossed on this one.
