The OnePlus OxygenOS ROM is based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS, comes with an array of custom features and brings a sleek user interface which can be likened to that found on Google Nexus smartphones. The custom Android-based ROM begins the long-journey of OnePlus smartphones away from CyanogenMod.

Director, OnePlus Global, Carl Pei on the official Blog had this to say;

Developing OxygenOS has been an incredibly fun and challenging experience for all of us. In this environment where everyone is fighting to standout with custom ROMs, we think it’s important to go back to basics. We place things like performance and battery life over gimmicks and bloated features.

We want to be careful that we aren’t adding features simply for the sake of differentiation. We’ve implemented some important features thus far, but they are subtle and meaningful. That’s our philosophy behind OxygenOS: keep it light and essential.

The first build is not without some slight issues but all will be improved in due course; other updates will be available via OTA (Over The Air). The official OnePlus OxygenOS ROM can be downloaded from the official website and flashed to the OnePlus One smartphone. You can find the Installation Guide at the link provided.
