Lava Iris Icon with 13MP main camera and 2GB of RAM announced

Lava has added a new smartphone to its Iris Series of devices; the Lava Iris Icon as it is known sports midrange specs and thanks to the custom Android UI (Star OS) it performs varieties of functions and tasks using gestures.

The Lava Iris Icon features a 5-inch (1280 X 720 pixels) HD IPs display with Asahi DragonTrail glass protection and  powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM. On-board is 16GB space of internal storage which is supplemented by a microSD card slot which expands storage up to 32GB more.

On the rear is a 13MP camera unit with f/2.0 aperture, Dual LED flash and Sony EXMOR BSI 2 sensor. The front camera is a 5MP unit with f/2.4 aperture. Connectivity options on the device includes – Bluetooth 4.0, USB OTG, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and 3G connectivity. 

The Lava Iris Icon supports Dual SIM functionality, weighs 143 grams, measures 143.41 × 70.56 × 7.7mm in dimensions and is backed by a 2500mAh battery which is expected to provide around 9 hours of talk-time on 3G. The device runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat based Star OS; the customised OS gives the basis for the device to peform gesture features such as drawing patterns on the screen when in sleep mode to launch apps.

The Lava Iris Icon would be available exclusively from Snapdeal and other major retail outlets in India for around Rs 11,990. In partnership with Snapdeal, those who purchase the device would get a free selfie stick bundled along with the device.
