Cyanogen OS to come with Microsoft Apps Pre-Installed

Cyanogen has open stated it is looking to hurt Google and steal Android from the search giant. How do you hurt anything, you start by stealing one of the things it loves? Or you just gang up with its rival way to spite it? Either way Cyanogen is on course.

For those who don’t know, Cyanogen OS is a free, community-built distribution of Android, and users usually gravitate toward it for a clean mobile experience free of bloatware .

Cyanogen and Microsoft has announced a strategic partnership which would see the company’s Open-source mobile OS, CyanogenMod come pre-installed with Microsoft Apps and services. This will include the likes of Bing Search, Skype, Bing services, OneDrive, Outlook, OneNote, and Microsoft office.

“People around the world use Cyanogen’s operating system and popular Microsoft services to engage with what matters most to them on their mobile devices. This exciting partnership with Microsoft will enable us to bring new kinds of integrated services to mobile users in markets around the world.”

Cyanogen CEO Kirt McMaster said in a statement.

“We aspire to have our tools within arm’s reach of everyone, to empower them in all aspects of their lives. This partnership represents another important step toward that ambition,”

said Peggy Johnson, executive vice president of Microsoft.

Lest we forget, Microsoft also lured Samsung into loading some Microsoft Apps on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Microsoft’s intent is clear it is looking to get its services across all platforms outside the Windows Ecosystem. While the company is certainly achieving its goal(s), it is uncertain how Android Purists would accept this news.
