LeTV would launch Le Superphone with USB Type-C in the US

Chinese company, LeTV, popular for its video streaming services, has announced it would be launching a smartphone in the US which simply goes with the moniker – ‘Le Superphone’. The device is being touted as the first mobile phone to use the USB Type-C connector.

The LeTV Le Superphone is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with 4GB of RAM, 21MP rear facing camera, wireless HDMI, Dual SIm functionality, 4G LTE connectivity and is backed by a 3000mAh battery. While there is no word on the device’s display (forbes suggests – 5.5-inch and 6.3-inch), availability details and pricing; some sources are considerably tipping the trio of the LeTV One, One Pro and Max as the Le Superphone smartphone which would make the US debut later this year. 

LeTV has been in the spotlight for some weeks now to the its bezel-less display smartphones. It is said to be opening two offices in the US – One in Los Angeles to keep tabs on the entertainment industry and the other in Silicon Valley to be nearer to where it is happening. The company’s headquarter still remains at Beijing, China. 

LeTV CEO and Founder, Jia Yueting stated:

“Expanding to the U.S. is a natural progression of our business as we continue to aggressively pursue new services and markets. We believe that our open, vertically integrated ecosystem is the future of Internet experiences in the connected age and a stark contrast from closed systems that limit consumer choices and industry innovation.”
