HP has announced two new PCs with the Chrome OS based HP ChromeBook PC powered by a Samsung processor and the 14-inch Android OS based HP SlateBook. The HP ChromeBook is an improvement on the Google Partnered ChromeBook released last year.
The HP ChromeBook PC dons a 11.6-inch 1366 x 768 pixels resolution display, powered by Samsung Exynos 5250 chipset with 1.7 GHz dual-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 100GB of free Google Drive for 2 years, Front facing VGA webcam, duo 2.0 USB Ports, Stereo speakers.
The HP ChromeBook PC has a battery life of 6.25 hours which is very less compared to that of Chromebooks from Acer or Dell. The device also measures 2.045cm x 30.0cm x 20.57cm, weighs – Connectivity options on the HP Chromebook PC includes Dual Band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth.
The HP Chromebook is expected to be available in Ocean Turquoise and Snow White colour variants, at a starting price of $279 (N46,000 in Naira approx) by July in the US. The $279 price tag is for the Wi-Fi model, with the 3G enabled version is currently in works.
In addition to the HP Chromebook PC, HP also announced the 14-Inch Android OS based HP Slatebook which had already been spotted back in April.
The HP SlateBook features a 14-inch BrightView WLED-backlit touch-sensitive touchscreen 1080p display, powered by a 1.8GHz NVIDIA Tegra 4 Quad-core processor, 16GB/32GB/64GB of internal storage (expandable) and runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box.
Other features options on the device includes: Bluetooth, front facing HD Camera, Beats Audio quad-speakers, Wi-Fi, two USB 2.0, one USB 3.0, HDMI port, 3.5mm audio jack.
The HP Slatebook is expected to be available in US by July 20th when it launches, at the price of $429 (N70,000 in Naira approx). The device will be available in Black colour scheme with Yellow accents.
