ORIN is a music streaming service from Nigerian Entertainment Today (NET)

Nigerian Entertainment Today, simply know as NET has launched a music streaming service which is basically targeted at the Nigerian and African crowd. ORIN as it is known is said to incorporate music streaming services as well as social functionality, data gathering and analytics function.

According to the official statement, ORIN currently has a catalogue of over 1000 videos and 5000 audio tracks of 100% pure African contents in its library. The figure is expected to surpass the 100,000 mark over the next 12 months as new contents as well as old contents are added in Non-digital formats. 

ORIN wants to be the spotify of Africa, it permits online and offline streaming modes which means users can listen to their playlist anytime but are only restricted to playing alone, no downloading. The service also has an in-built social media integration which makes connecting listeners and artists possible. 

The streaming service incorporates automatic detection of network speed and dish out appropriate straming bandwidth – this simply means a slow connection could be ascribed 128kbps or 64kbps and a faster connection with 256kbps; the audio quality now matter the streaming bandwidth is however kept intact by a special format.

ORIN is a 100% free service and is backed by advertising revenues. The platform is said to even pay royalties to artists. It is currently available on Android, iOS, Windows Phone and PC.
