You can now pre-register for upcoming Android apps and games on Google Play Store

Google has added a new feature to Google Play Store which now lets users pre-register for apps and games from their favourite publisher(s). Asides registering for the app, users will also get notification whenever the app is released and there is also an option to Unregister.

The first app to get the feature is Glu’s Terminator Genisys: Revolution mobile game which is seen in the image above. Pre-registering for an app doesn’t mean there is any commitment to buy nor does it cost anything, rather the you’ll only be notified it the app is available.

Once the app goes live, the pre-register button is expected to be replaced with the Buy/Install button. The Unregister button is there if the users feels the need to opt out from reciveing notification or alerts about an app.

This move is not only beneficial to users which means they can keeps tabs on apps they are interested in; it is also beneficial for publisher as they can gauge the level of interest users are showing to their apps.
