Bing to also give preference to Mobile-Friendly Websites

Bing has announced it would start giving preference to Mobile-Friendly websites ahead of searches desktop-only ones on searches made from mobile. The Microsoft owned company is following in the footstep of Google which made similar announcement some weeks ago.

Bing Mobile-Friendly Websites

The company has now includes a ‘Mobile-Friendly’ tag for websites in its search results. The new algorithm follows several factors to determine mobile-friendliness, some of which are – Navigation, readability, scrolling and compatibility. Asides this, other factors would also be considered – one of this is the issues with annoying pop-ups which makes navigating a website very difficult.

Over the coming weeks, Bing would release a tool which would allow webmasters analyse webpages. The results would be better explained and would give more insight to where and how to fix on the website to ensure a mobile friendly experience.

While Google would lower ranking of non mobile-friendly websites; Bing would rather rank the websites appropriately then attach the ‘Mobile-Friendly’ tag to separate websites which complies with the algorithm. Bing is expected to rollout the update in coming months.
