How would you like a light bulb that can serenade you with music? Well, Sony has a new LED Light Bulb which comes with a Built-in Bluetooth speaker in to the Japanese market. Dubbed the Sony LED Light Bulb Speaker, It is currently listed on Sony’s Online store with a price tag of ¥23,880 ($199) and is expected to available by May 23rd.
The light bulb is a normal bulb with a luminous flux of 360 lumen and of course it can be used by any standard bulb socket. Behind the bulb is the built-in 40mm bluetooth speaker which co-exists peacefully with the bulb without any hindrances and connects to compatible devices via Bluetooth.
The Sony LED Light Bulb Speaker weighs 295 grams, uses 9W (2W for the speaker and 7W for the Light Bulb); it can be controlled either by a dedicated remote control or paired with a smartphone app which can be used to control the volume of the speakers and also the brightness of the bulb.
If you are wondering how this Bulb will be usable – Sony released a series of promotional images suggesting it mostly for indoor usage only – In the bedroom, In the sitting roon, usable with a bedside table and Inside the kitchen.
However, it is not certain if this Bulb would make it out of Japanese or the Asian Market for now.
