Acer has announced a new series of inexpensive midrange laptops in the Aspire One Cloudbook series – the Aspire One Cloudbook 11 and Aspire One Cloudbook 14.
The Cloudbook series laptops from Acer is modelled after the same initiative Google wants to achieve with its chromebooks. The laptops would tap into the cloud for the majority of its activities but there is option to use external storage.
The Acer Aspire One Cloudbook 11 sports a 11.6-inch display, up to 7 hours of battery life, weighs 1.15kg and is available in 16GB/32GB eMMC storage configuration, while the Acer Aspire One Cloudbook 14 features a 14-inch display, up to 6 hours of battery life, measure 17.9mm thin, weighs 1.6Kg and is available in 32GB/64GB eMMC storage configuration.
Both models have a 16:9 LED Back-lit display resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Celeron N3050 dual-core processor with Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.16GHz, 2GB RAM, 640 x 480 pixel webcam, and Dual Digital Microphones with DSP (Digital Signal Processing) for a better Cortana experience.
Both Cloudbooks run Windows 10 Home Edition, a year free Officie 365 Personal Subscription and up to 1TB of Microsoft OneDrive Store. Acer is also throwing in its cloud-powered apApps – abDocs, abFiles, abMusic and abPhotos which all let you sync data between your devices and the cloud.
Connectivity options available includes – Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, full sized HDMI port, USB 3.0 port, USB 2.0 port, a SD card slot and there is also the full-sized keyboard and large touchpad available to navigate using Windows 10 based gestures.
The Acer Aspire One Cloudbook 11 is available for a price tag starting $169.99 in North America by August and starting at €269 in EMEA regions by September. The Acer Aspire One Cloudbook 11 is available starting at $199 in September and in EMEA regions starting at €299. Different specs, features and configuration could be available for different market.
