Acer Chromebase: All-in-one desktop with touchscreen display and Tegra K1 Processor

Despite the slow growth trend of the Chrome OS and Chromebooks (all forms) there is no stopping Google from announcing new additions to the family. Acer has announced a new all-in-one desktop which has a giant 21.5-inch touchscreen display and goes by the name – Acer Chromebase.

The Acer Chromebase features a 21.5-inch display (1920 X 1080 pixels) resolution touchscreen IPS display with 178-degree viewing angle and is powered by the quad-core Tegra K1 processor from NVIDIA. It would offer ‘up to 4GB of RAM, 16GB space of internal storage and Acer is throwing in 100GB space of Google Drive for two years.

Connectivity options on the device includes – Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0 ports, HDMI port and USB 3.0 port. It also has two 3W audio speakers and built-in HD webcam. Pricing details of the device is unknown yet but is expected to be available in the summer.

It looks like Google is embarking on making more touchscreen enabled Chrome OS device which were not initially ingrained into the OS. Google has equally announced a touchscreen enabled 2-in-1 Chromebook from Asus which would bring a more touch-friendly interaction and runs Chrome OS 42. The touchscreen would come very handly since Android apps would coming to the OS very soon.
