Before the IFA 2016 event began proper, Acer announced a new chromebook model, the Acer Chromebook R13. The industry’s first ever convertible chromebook with 13.3-inch display will be available this October starting at $399 in North America and €399 in EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) regions.
Sporting an innovative 360-degree hinge design, the Acer Chromebook R13 Convertible is usable in four versatile modes – Laptop, Display, Tent and Pad. The touchscreen display has a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (FHD) and the frontal HD webcam with HDR and an integrated microphone handle webchats.
The R13 joins the rare breed of Chromebooks with a Mediatek processor onboard (MT8173C) and comes in several variants – 4GB of RAM and either 16GB, 32GB or 64GB storage models. It connects wirelessly via 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac and packs the USB Type-C port along with USB 3.0, microSD card slot, HDMI, Bluetooth 4.0 and headphone jack.
Measuring 326 x 228 x 15.5 mm in dimensions and weighing in at 1.49 kg (3.3 pounds); the Acer Chromebook R13 is expected to last up to 12 hours of usage on a single charge and will bring the planned support for Android Apps via the Google Play Store.
