Acer is expected to announce a new Iconia One 8 tablet at the CES 2016 and it would arrive in various market by coming weeks. The Acer Iconia One 8 B1-850 as it is known is not too different from previous models in the series – they come with entry-level specs and the price are reasonable.
Measuring 9.05mm thick and weighing 340 grams in size, the Acer Iconia One 8 B1-850 is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT8163 64-bit processor clocked at 1.3GHz along with 1GB of RAM, sports a 8-inch IPS display with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.
There is 16GB built-in storage space which is expandable via a microSD card slot, a rear facing 5-megapixels camera with AutoFocus (but no Flash) and a front facing 2-megapixels camera. The slate also has 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 but no cellular connectivity and a single speaker on the rear.
The Acer Iconia One 8 B1-850 is backed by a 4600mAh battery (17.5 watts-hour) with up to 9 hours of battery life promised depending on use. The company also added a kiddies-focused feature to the Android UI called Kids Center Suite. It comes with appropriate apps, games, media contents for the kids as well as parental control mechanism for the adults.
Also on the UI are the EZ gadgets and EZ tasking features, the former allows quick access to certain apps in window that float above the actual surface and the latter helps with multitasking of some sort, apps will accessed side-by-side on the display.
