Acer has fulfilled its promise of jumping into the wearable device market and has revealed the Liquid Leap Smartband, the very first wearable from the Taiwanese company. The Liquid Leap could could be competing extensively with the Samsung Gear Fit and the LG G watch.
At the Touch More Connected press event last week in New York, Acer introduced the Iconia Tab 7 and Iconia One 7 but the announcement of the Liquid Jade Smartphone alongside the Liquid Leap smartband was the highlight of the event. However, very few details were released about both devices.
The Acer Liquid Jade Smartphone looks like a 5-inch device with Gorilla corning glass display. Asides its availability in Light Jade, Blue & Black colours, other specs like the Processor, Camera, connectivity were not revealed.
Meanwhile, The Acer Liquid Leap is a 17mm thick smartband, which would act as a smartwatch and a fitness tracker. It also gives calls and text notifications. The Liquid leap which may end up being bundled with the Liquid Jade Smartphone, has a battery life of extensive 5 days usage.
Presumably the Liquid Leap smartband is designed to work with the Liquid Jade smartphone alone and could be made to work with other smartphones or tablets or would be compatible specifically with Acer devices only.
Both devices are expected to hit the markets around late July and Early August, with no price announced for now. With the computex around the corner, we expect more details to be revealed at the event.
