Acer Predator 8 is a Android Based gaming tablet for $299

Acer has finally announced its first gaming tablet based on Android OS; the tablet has been in the news for a while and would be available in North America for $299. The tablet would sell exclusively on Newegg (at least for two weeks) in the US and would sell in Europe for €349 and in China for ¥2499.

Moving to the specs, the Acer Predator 8 features a 8-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) Full HD IPS display with Zero Air Gap and with Predator ColorBlast technology for 100% NTSC color gamut. The slate is powered by an Intel Atom X7 Cherry Trail processor with Intel HD graphics, 2GB of RAM, 32GB to 64GB internal storage space and a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 128GB. 

On the back, there is a 5MP camera, a front facing 2MP camera and up to 8.5 hours of battery life. It measures 218.44 x 127 x 8.7mm and weighs 350 grams, has 802.11 a/b/g/n 2×2 MIMO Wi-Fi connectivity and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.

The Acer Predator 8 has four front facing speakers with virtual surround sound (which the company calls Predator Quadio) and there is a tactile feedback when playing games via Predator TacSense. The tablet comes pre-loaded with Asphalt 8 and game credits up to 320,000. 

The Acer Predator 8 tablet supports Pen or Pencil input and there is an optional ‘Accurate Stylus Pen’ for those who require one. Other optional accessories includes – a travel adapter, gaming headset and slimport adapter.
