Ahead of this year’s Computex in Taiwan, Acer has announced a new convertible notebook – the Acer Spin 1 for flexible computing and a new line of gaming laptops under the Acer Nitro 5 family series for casual gamers. Both models are powered by Microsoft’s Windows 10 OS.
Acer Spin 1
The lightweight Acer Spin 1 Convertible sports a metal chassis, 11.6-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD touch-enabled display and supports direct writing on the screen via the Acer Active Stylus. To reduce the impact of eyes strain, the company has added the ‘Acer Bluelight Sheild’ feature.
Under the hood, the Spin 1 is powered by an Intel Pentium or Intel Celeron processors with 4GB RAM and either 32GB, 64GB or 128GB storage space. Connectivity and port options include – Bluetooth 4.0, 1x USB 3.1 port, 1x USB 2.0 port, 1x HDMI port and 1x microSD (SDXC) card slot.
The Acer Spin 1 measures 14 mm thick, weighs 1.25 kg and lasts up to 8 hours of battery life. It will go on sale in July for a starting price of $329 initially in North America before heading to the EMEA for €399.
Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Notebook Line
Acer’s new Nitro 5 laptop series for casual gaming arrives with a number of configurations options (graphics and processors) and powerful features as well as the Xbox app and Direct X12. It sports a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display, USB 3.1 Type-C (Gen 1) port, 1x USB 3.0 port, 2x USB 2.0 ports, and HDMI 2.0 port.
Available models feature up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics paired with 7th-Gen Intel Core i7 processors, or AMD Radeon RX550 graphics with 7th Generation AMD A-series processors. They all support up to 32GB RAM, PCIe SSD (up to 512GB) paired with an optional HDD (up to 2TB).
Other features include: Acer Coolboost, Dolby Audio Premium, Acer TrueHarmony, Gigabit Ethernet port and 802.11ac 2×2 MIMO. The Acer Nitro will be available at first in North America in July starting at $799 before launching in China and EMEA starting at CNY 5,999 and €1,099.
