Adblock Plus has announced the official launch of the Adblock Browser for iOS and Android; the version 1.0 of the browser is available on Google Play Store for android devices and for Apple devices, it is available from the App Store.
The Adblock Browser comes with a built-in ad blocker and this prides itself of removing annoying ads whilst also protecting the user from malware and tracking, saves the usage of mobile data and battery life by almost up to 20%.
The new browser also blocks social media buttons and supports many languages. There is also options to whitelist favourite websites and block all ads.
Google removed the company’s Adblock Plus from the Play Store about 2 and half years ago because the service “interfered with or accessed another service or product in an unauthorised manner” but the company has returned with the Adblock Browser for Android on the Play Store.
The browser requires a display size around 320 x 240 pixels, compatible with devices running Android 2.3 (or higher), has an installation size of 23MB. It entered Beta around late May, about 300,000 users downloaded the beta in first week of release and 78,000 of those volunteered to help in Beta testing.
Adblock claims it beats Apple to launch an ad-blocking service for iOS; the company has released the iOS 9 which supports content blocking extensions for Safari.
The Adblock browser for iOS is built on the Kitt framework for iOS; it offers the same services as the Android version and also adds easier bookmarking, enhanced keyboard features and smoother scrolling.
Adblock Plus is a free download for mobile users on Android and iOS, and a free browser add-on for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, Maxthon and Opera.
