Microsoft has announced the affordable Microsoft Lumia 550 smartphone to continue the Lumia-500 series line. The 5-inch sized device will run Windows 10 for Mobile OS and is priced at $139 in Black and White colours with a December launch date on the cards.
The Microsoft Lumia 550 is basically for those who wants to enjoy Windows 10 on Mobile on a budget or cannot afford the flagship duo of the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. There is a Dual SIM version of the Lumia 550 predictably called the Microsoft Lumia 550 Dual SIM but has the same specifications.
The device sports a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and a pixel density of 294ppi. Under the hood,the device is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor clocked at 1.1GHz with 1GB of RAM and 8GB Space of internal storage.
For additional storage there is a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 200GB. On the rear, there is a 5MP f/2.4 main camera with LED flash and a front facing 2MP camera for selfies. Connectivity options on the device includes GPS/aGPS, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and 4G LTE/3G HSPA+
The Microsoft Lumia 550 (and Microsoft Lumia 550 Dual SIM) runs Windows 10 for Mobile, measures 136.1 x 67.8 x 9.9 mm in dimensions, weighs 141.9 grams and is backed by a 2100mAh battery with quick charging support.
