Airtel Nigeria has launched a new roaming service dubbed the Airtel SmartROAM which allows subscribers receive free incoming calls on Seven networks in Five countries.
The initiative lets subscribers receive free unlimited incoming calls when roaming in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, South Africa, United Arab Emirates (UAE), United Kingdom (UK) and the United states of America (USA).
The Airtel SmartROAM initiative won’t be available on just any network in these countries; Airtel has partnered with the following networks – Zain in Saudi Arabia, Cell C and Vodacom in South Africa, Etisalat in the UAE, Orange and Vodafone in the UK, and AT&T in the USA.
To activate the Airtel SmartROAM, the user has to recharge a minimum of N5000 or more in a calender month (30 days); for that month the user would receive incoming calls for 30 days in the above listed countries and networks.
No need to send any activation code and whatever credit you load will only be deducted when you access other services like calls, chat, text messages or surfing the net within Nigeria or abroad.
A single recharge of N5000 or accumulated recharges amounting to that will qualify a customer to enjoy the service and whatever channel a user decides to recharge with whether it is via recharge vouchers, electronic recharges, and others are all valid for the new roaming service.
Commenting on the new Airtel SmartROAM initiative, Chief Commercial Officer, Airtel Nigeria, Maurice Newa explained that;
“The strategic focus for the new roaming service is to ensure a convenient and seamless communication experience for customers when they travel abroad.
We have strategically picked these five locations because of the significant footfall of Nigerians to the locations; a good number of Nigerians miss important calls while abroad, but with the SmartROAM service, roaming has been made simpler and affordable such that our customers’ lineswill always stay on, while they are abroad.
We are always committed to delivering exceptional experience to our customers and the thrust of this initiative is to bring easy and affordable roaming to our customers who travel to any of these five countries”.
The Telco company launched the Airtel UnlimiNet bundle last week which is part of its strategy to enrich the lives of customers and offer affordable services. The UnlimiNet bundle is a 4-in-1 bundle which includes Voice, SMS, Data and Social Bundle which offers unlimited access to Blackberry Messenger, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Whatsapp.
