TCL has announced the launch of the Alcatel 1, its latest entry-level smartphone based on the Android Oreo (Go Edition). The device, which is on sale for a price tag of EUR 79 / USD 89, is targeted at first time smartphone users and those interested in a basic experience.
Backed by a lasting 2,000mAh battery, the Alcatel 1 sports a 5-inch 2-point touchscreen FullView display with 18:9 aspect ratio (similar to the Alcatel 1X) and 960 x 480 pixels (FWVGA+) resolution. It is powered by the MediaTek MT6739 chipset with a 1.28GHz quad-core CPU paired with 1GB of RAM.
The smartphone arrives with 8GB storage space, with the option to expand up to 32GB via microSD. In the camera segment, there is a rear facing 5MP FF camera (interpolated up to 8MP), and a front facing 2MP camera (interpolated up to 2MP). The device also boast of social ready camera features such as Instant Collage, Photo Booth and Social Square.
As stated above, the Alcatel 1 comes pre-loaded with Android Oreo (Go Edition) along with tailored apps such as Files Go, Google Go, Google Maps Go, Gmail Go, YouTube Go and Google Assistant Go. It arrives in Metallic Black, Metallic Blue and Metallic Gold colours.
