At the IFA 2015, Alcatel OneTouch has announced a new series of GO devices – the GO PLAY and GO Watch. Both devices are tipped to be the darling of actives users or those who aways like to join in the action.
Alcatel OneTouch GO PLAY
Starting with the Alcatel OneTouch GO PLAY which is a smartphone; it is dustproof, waterproof and dustproof. It can be used to shoot pictures and videos under water and survives a fall of not more than 1.5 metres above the ground.
It sports a 5-inch 720p HD TFT display, powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB space of internal storage out of which only 4GB is user available. The phone is pre-loaded with Vine, Periscope and Zello so the various activities can be streamed to followers.
The device has a 8MP main camera, a front facing 5MP camera for selfies, runs Android 5.0 Lollipop OS and is backed by a 2500mAh battery which is expected to provide 20 days of standby time, 8.3 hours of talk time and 55 hours music playback time. Connectivity options on the Alcatel OneTouch Go Play includes – GPS, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi and 4G LTE.
The GO PLAY is available in Eight colour options -Blue, Dark Green, Dark Grey, Dark Red, Lime, Orange, Orange Blue and Pink. And there are waterproof headsets and protective cases to match.
Alcatel OneTouch GO WATCH
Along with the GO PLAY, the company also announced the Alcatel OneTouch GO WATCH which is not only Dustproof and Waterproof, but also Shockproof. It performs the usual functions like delivering notifications on emails, calls, SNS, SMS and weather.
Talking about the specs, it sports a 1.22-inch LCD IPS circular display with a 240 x 240 pixels and is powered by a Cortex-M4 based processor. The front casing as well as the wristband are interchangeable to any colour of choice.
There is also a GO Button which let users hack their emotions; the button triggers the an emotional pulse measurement that uses the accelerometer, heart rate sensor and gyroscope to guage user’s emotion and create an emotional graphic. This graphic can either be shared on social media or be used as a wallpaper on the paired phone or the GO PLAY phone.
The GO WATCH is compatible Android (running Android 4.3 or later) and iOS (iOS 8.2 or later) devices. It doesn’t run Android Wear, the company has instead opted for a custom OS which indirectly has an impact on the some what longer battery life. It is backed by a 225mAh battery which assures 2 – 5 days usage.
