Alcatel has finally announced the already known low mid-range phablet – the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL. The 5.5-inch sized device will be available online in the US for $139 through Metro PCS starting on November 2nd and will be available later in the winter through T-Mobile.
Moving to the specs, the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL sports a 5.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display, powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor clocked at 1.1GHz paired with 2GB of RAM, 16GB native storage space and a microSD slot for adding more storage (up to 32GB).
For photography, the device has a front facing 2MP camera for selfies and video chats; a rear facing 8MP camera with LED flash and in partnership with Polaroid, the company has added the Polaroid Camera mode for better photo outputs. With the mode, you will be able to add tags (date/location/text), filters and borders – including the Polaroid Classic Border Logo.
In terms of connectivity, the device supports 4G LTE networks as well as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, microUSB 2.0 and comes with both HD Voice and VoLTE support. This model of the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL has a single SIM slot and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.
Previously, an image of a Windows 10 Mobile OS version of the device popped up also, but it seems the company will stick with the Android OS version only for now. The whole shebang is backed by a 2500mAh battery that should provide up to 360 hours of standby time and up to 12 hours of talk time.
PS: Metro PCS is offering $70 rebate on the original $140 price tag which means the price drops to $70.
