Recently, TCL Communication introduced a new prepaid carrier-exclusive budget smartphone to the US market. The Alcatel Onyx, as it is known, is a bit similar to the Alcatel 1X (2019) and available exclusively in Cricket Wireless Stores and on CricketWireless.com for US$ 119.99.
The Alcatel Onyx has a 5.5-inch (1440 x 720 pixels) HD+ LCD 2.5D DragonTail glass display with 18:9 aspect ratio and a 3,000mAh battery for up to two (2) days of usage. Photography is handled by 13MP + 2MP dual rear cameras and a front facing 5MP camera with LCD screen flash.
Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the Mediatek MT6739vv quad-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB built-in storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD). It comes pre-loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo OS and has support for facial recognition with FACE KEY.
The rest of the specs include a rear fingerprint sensor, micro USB port and 3.5 mm headphone jack and 1x 1W speaker. If you prefer a similar budget smartphone but with USB-C port and slightly better specs, Cricket just landed the US$ 159.99-priced Nokia 3.1 Plus.
