Presumably ahead of the IFA 2017, Alcatel (TCL) has released a new budget smartphone – the Alcatel U5 HD. It is a slight upgrade over the Alcatel U5 released earlier this year at the MWC and comes with the same 5-inch IPS LCD display but the screen resolution has risen to 1280 x 720 pixels (HD).
The Alcatel U5 HD features a rear 8MP AF camera (interpolated up to 13MP) with LED flash and front facing 5MP camera (interpolated up to 8MP) with LED flash, HDR and EIS. The camera also boasts of several exciting features such as Instant Collage, Face Mask, Face Show, Selfie Album, and Face Beauty.
The device supports 4G FDD LTE networks (B1/ 3/ 7/ 8/ 20) and depends on a slightly bigger 2,200mAh battery, which is expected to provide nothing less than 4 hours of talk time and 200 hours of standby time. The battery does not have fast charging, so it takes less than 4.6 hours to get to 100%.
The rest of the specs remain pretty much the same. It packs a textured back cover and a quad-core Mediatek MT6737 procesor paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB built-in storage (expandable up to 32GB or 128GB via microSD). It is available in either Pure White or Volcano Black colours, and will arrive in Europe starting August 21 for EUR 119.
