Lenovo has delved into the smart home market with the launch of its Al-powered speaker, called the Lenovo Smart Assistant. Built in collaboration with Amazon, the digital assistant is designed to run Lenovo smart home devices and pre-installed with Amazon Alexa cloud-based voice services.
Available in Green, Light Gray & Orange colours, the Lenovo Smart Assistant resembles the Amazon Echo with its elegant cylindrical design (half aluminium, half coloured speaker grill). The base model starts at $129.99 while the Harman Kardon model costs $179.99; both models will go on sale by May.
The device has 8x 360-degree far-field microphones with noise suppression and acoustic echo cancellation – designed to pick up users’ voice commands from up to 16 feet (5 meters) away. It recognises users’ commands and conduct web searches, play music, create lists, provide calendar updates and more.
The company also announced the Lenovo Smart Storage at the CES 2017. Offering users quick control of data and files, the secure digital storage solution has up to 6TB storage space, dual-band wireless, multi-device auto-sync capabilities and integrated facial recognition software.
