Normally when the word ‘Pepsi’ gets mentioned, nothing but carbonated soft drinks comes to mind and like Coca-cola, PepsiCo products are sold in almost every country of the world. This time around PepsiCo China is working on a new product that is not a drink but a smartphone.
Pepsi is working on a mid-range category smartphone which could go official as soon as October 20th in Beijing, China; the device in question is the Pepsi P1. The device is expected to sell for a price tag of CNY 1299 ($205).

It is highly unlikely PepsiCo would be leaving the beverage industry for the smartphone industry but we shouldn’t rule anything out. It would be interesting to know which OEM was partnered with to make the device a reality or which OEM is trying to use the Pepsi brand to see its products. What will be the reaction of close competitors like Coca-Cola?
