AmazFit is Xiaomi’s New Fitness Tracker

Xiaomi announced the launch of a new wearable – the AmazFit at an event in Beijing on September 16th. The new fitness tracker, earlier tipped to be the Mi Band is launched as an independent brand (check amazfit.com), even though the design differs from the Mi band series, the company tips it to be also be used as a pendant and bracelet.

The Xiaomi AmazFit or just AmazFit has a small circular display which attaches to the bands. The bands are interchangeable and is made from Zirconia Ceramic/Zirconium Oxide (ZrO2) which makes it resistant to wear and tear; and also the material is behind Diamond and Sapphire Glass in hardness. 

The fitness tracker has Bluetooth 4.0 LE connectivity and sync with mobile devices – smartphones and tablets via the Amazfit app/Mi Fit app. It is IP68 certified for Waterproof, comes with pedometer and performs basic functions most fitness trackers perform including sleep recording, vibrate on notification, act as an alarm and others.

With 15mAh battery under the hood, it can last up to 10 days of usage on a single charge and can be charged wirelessly.

Male version of the tracker is reportedly called ‘Equator’ while the Female version is called ‘Frost’; both will be available at first in White and Black colours in China for CNY 299 ($47) starting mid-october, other colour options are expected to arrive at a later date.
