Amazon has finally taken wraps off its anticipated smartphone at an exclusive press event in Seattle by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, the phone has been in the making for years now and different leaks has been surfacing online since then. The Fire phone marks Amazon’s first smartphone from its own stable, has a high definition camera and offers Amazon’s vast array of services from music, films, books, TV shows, Magazines, digital contents and cloud storage.
The Amazon Fire Phone features a 4.7-inch IPS LCD HD (1280 x 720 resolution) display with 315 pixel per inch (ppi) density, 590 nits of brightness and Gorilla Glass 3. The device is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage variant.
One of the amazing features of the Amazon Fire Phone includes its 3D perspective technology (involving four corner cameras), 13MP rear facing camera with OIS, f/2.0 aperture, dedicated hardware key, unlimited photo storage and a front facing 2.1MP camera.
The Amazon fire phone measures 139.2 x 66.5 x 8.9mm, Weighs 160g, run on Amazon’s version of Android called Fire OS 3.5.0 (not to be mistaken with Firefox OS). Connectivity options include NFC, Bluetooth, dual band Wi-Fi, HSPA+, GPS, GLONASS, 9 Bands of LTE and more.
The smartphone has a battery capacity of 2400mAh, which offers up to 22 hours on talktime, up to 285 hours on standbytime, up to 11 hours on video playback and up to 65 hours on Audio playback.
Software features on the Amazon Fire Phone includes Firefly, Mayday service, . The Mayday service gives consumers a direct line to Amazon’s 24/7, 365days customer support via video chat. Another key feature is Firefly, which uses the phone’s camera to scan barcodes on products and identify them accordingly on Amazon store. The Firefly has a dedicated button under the volume, has voice and recognition feature which let’s it correlate what it picks with the Amazon store and also scan phone numbers and emails and add them to contacts.

Pricing and Availability
The Amazon Fire Phone will launch on July 25 and is currently available for Pre-order. The Fire Phone is available exclusively on AT&T in the US; the 64GB version costs $299.99 and the 32GB version costs $199.99 with a two-year AT&T contract. Consumers are also able to purchase the Amazon Fire Phone off contract directly from Amazon for a whopping $649 (about N106,000 in Naira) for the 32GB version and $749 (N123,000 in Naira) for the 64GB version.
The Amazon Fire Phone however is overshadowed by flagship smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S5, LG G3, iPhone 5S and HTC One M8.
