Bullit Group, the company behind the Caterpillar brand of smartphones has announced the Cat S60 – the World’s First smartphone with thermal camera and the World’s most waterproof smartphone. The device which will be unveiled at the MWC 2016 has a Recommended Retail Price of €649/$599.
The Cat S60 is equipped with an embedded thermal camera made by FLIR which lets the device to do some of the following: detecting heat loss around windows and doors; spotting moisture and missing insulation; identifying over-heating electrical appliances and circuitry; and seeing in complete darkness.
It has a strengthened die cast frame, can withstand drops onto concrete from up to 1.8 metres, MIL Spec 810G, dustproof and waterproof (i.e can be immersed into 5 metres of water for up to 1 hour); the camera can also be used under water.
Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, the Cat S60 sports a 7-inch HD capacitive multi-touch display which is clearly visible under sunlight, 540-nits super bright display, Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection and has auto wet finger and glove support.
The rest of the specs includes – 3GB RAM, 32GB built-in storage space, front 5MP camera, underwater 13MP rear camera with Dual LED flash and Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor. The device also has high quality audio experience (<105dB) and backed by a 3800mAh battery. Source: CatPhones.
