Indian OEM, Lava has been confirmed to manufacture the next gen Android One smartphone for Google. The Lava Pixel V1 is expected to be announced as the next Android One smartphone on July 29th. There is no official word on pricing or confirmation but it is expected to be priced equivalent to $177.
While there has been speculation that the Lava Iris X5 would be new Android One device, however, this new report somehow confirms the Lava Pixel V1 would be it. It features a 5.5-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (HD) and Asahi DragonTrail Glass protection.
Compared to other Android One smartphones, the Pixel V1 is more futuristic in design with its bezel-less display and moves to the phablet category which is a first. Smartphones under the Android One campaign get to enjoy instantaneous update from Google Directly for about two years after purchase.
Under the hood, the Lava Pixel V1 is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.3GHz paired with 2GB of RAM. There would be 32GB space of internal storage to go along and a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 32GB more.
On the rear, there is a 13MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and a front facing 5MP camera. Connectivity options includes – 3G HSPA+, GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The Lava Pixel V1 is backed by a 2650mAh battery and runs stock Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS.
