Google has officially announced Android Wear for iOS; this move will see Android Wear watches work with the iPhones. Android wear works with the iPhone 5, 5S, 5C, 6 and 6 Plus running iOS 8.2 OS (or higher).
Most of the features of expected from Android Wear on Android device now works on iPhones. Once the app is installed on the phone, the watch would be able access notifications (text, calls and apps), track fitness goals, heart rates amongst others.
It can also set reminders, create appointments and provide timely tips using voice commands (OK Google). Even though Google is not mentioning any limitations, rumours have it that some third party apps enjoyed by Android users won’t be available immidiately.
Also, interactive notifications and voice search are also said to be riddled with some slight constraints thanks but no thanks to the closed-source nature of iOS. The rollout of Android Wear for iOS starts today and compatibility starts with the LG Watch Urbane.
All upcoming Android Wear watches and those already available including those from Asus, Huawei and Motorola will also get the update to support iOS devices (iPhones alone for now).
