Japanese carrier, KDDI has announced the HTC J Butterfly (HTC J butterfly HTL23), a version of the flagship HTC One M8 which is globally available. As expected the HTC J Butterfly comes with a few changes.
The first noticeable change is that the smartphone is waterproof; which pracically most Japanese phones are always waterproof – he Xperia line from Sony is an example. For this smartphone to be waterproof, the dual Boomsound speakers has been eliminated, but to complement that the J butterfly is bundled with high quality JBL in-ear headset.
The other change is the cameras has been replaced with the 13MP rear camera seen on the HTC One E8 and HTC One Mini 2. Instead of the 4 Ultrapixel Duo Camera, the rear camera is a 13MP camera with BSI sensor but it still maintains the secondary depth sensor from the One M8.
Asides these noticeable changes, the HTC J Butterfly has practically he same specifications as the One M8 with its 5-inch Full HD display, Qualcomm snapdragon 801 SoC, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage (up to 128GB via microSDXC card slot, 5MP front camera, 4G LTE, Android 4.4 Kitkat OS and a 2,700 mAh battery.
