Apple has finally confirmed rumours it was launching an iPhone with a phablet sized display. The company today, announced the iPhone 6 Plus with 5.5-inch display and the iPhone 6 with 4.7-inch display as well as the Apple Watch and Apple Pay.
The iPhone 6 plus features a 5.5-inch IPS LCD (1920 x 1080 pixels) Retina HD display with a pixel density of 401ppi. The device’s display has been optimised to utilise the larger display. Like the iPhone 6, the 6 plus also runs on 64-Bit A8 chipset which offers 50% more Graphics (GPU) and 25% more processing power.
The phablet has a 8MP iSight Camera with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), a True Tone Dual LED flash with 1.5μ pixels, phase-detection autofocus and f/2.2 aperture. This is the first device from Apple sporting a camera with OIS. The camera records 1080p videos at 30fps & 60fps and also records slow-motion videos at 240fps.
Asides GSM calling, the iPhone 6 Plus also supports VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and WiFI calling. The device supports NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Apple Pay – Apple’s own NFC payment system.
The 16GB iPhone 6 Plus is available for $299 on contract, 64GBversion for $399 and 128GB version for $499. The iPhone 6 Plus would be available in US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK starting September 19, and pre-order starts on September 12.
