Apple today at the Flint Center in Cupertino, Carlifornia announced the next generation of the iPhone, the iPhone 6 in two versions – 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and a 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus alongside the Apple Watch. The iPhone 6 sports a 4.7-inch (1334 x 750 pixels) resulting in 326ppi pixel density while the Phablet iPhone 6 Plus features a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display resulting in a pixel density of 401ppi.
Both the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus are powered by the 64-Bit A8 chipset, which is smaller, offers 50 percent faster graphics and 25 percent performance. The processor works in collaboration with the M8 motion co-processor, which tracks data from the accelerometer, gyroscope, compass and barometer sensors.
Both models run on iOS 8, supports VoLTE (voice over LTE), Wifi calling, 8MP iSight camera, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 4G LTE Cat.4and Apple Pay. The iPhone 6 would be available in Grey, Silver and Gold colour options.
The iPhone 6 would cost – $199 (16GB), $299 (64GB) and $399 (128GB) and iPhone 6 Plus it is $299 (16GB), $399 (64GB) and $499 (128GB) all on contract.
For the unlocked version; for the IPhone 6 it costs – 16GB ($649), 64GB ($749) and 128GB ($849) and the iPhone 6 Plus costs 16GB ($749), 64GB ($849) and (128GB) $949 respectively.
Apple Watch
Since smartwatches started being the new cool, Apple has been tipped to unveil a smartwatch of its own. In a series of different leaks and rendering, the cupertino giant was tipped to announce the iWatch. The company today finally announced its first smartwatch, the Apple Watch alongside the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
The Apple Watch would come in three versions – a Luxury Watch Edition in 18 carat Rose or Yellow Gold, Apple Watch Sport in polished or black stainless steel and the standard Apple Watch in grey or silver anodized aluminium. Each variant would come in two sizes – 32mm and 42mm.
The Apple Watch shares personalised health information, answers calls, send and receive messages. The device also features Siri and also interchangeable bands made of synthetic rubber (Viton), leather (quilted and plain) or metal mesh or links.
The Apple Watch wouldbe available early 2015 at a starting price of $349.
Other Major Details To Note:
• The iOS 8 has been announced to go official on September 18th and wouldbe be announced later for the iPhone 4S and later, iPad 2 and later and the iPod touch 5th Gen. The new Apple iOS features an improved keyboard, support for third party keybords, Family sharing feature, Apple’s Healthkit Fitness service and Health App, integration with iCloud and many more.
• Apple is rolling out an update to the iOS 8 in October which will bring support for the Apple Pay, a digital wallet and payment system. Apple Pay requires a device with NFC such as the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus. For those with an older Apple device such as an iPhone 5c, iPhone 5S, or iPhone 5 you can still use Apple Pay by pairing your phone with an Apple Watch.
