At the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus smartphone launch in San Francisco, Apple announced the release dates of its latest operating system for mobile – iOS 10 and that of Mac computers – macOS Sierra.
Apple iOS 10
Set to be released on September 13, iOS 10 happens to be the biggest update yet from Apple and will be available for eligible devices three days before the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus begin shipping.
Apple iOS 10 brings a lot of significant updates and also, Apple has made various changes to the SiRi digital assistant and the whole operating system as a whole. It brings features such as Raise to Wake, Universal Clipboard in iOS 10, improved widgets and Apple Map has also been redesigned.
Apple Music has also been redesigned from the scratch and the company is also refreshing its Photos, Phone, Maps, Music, News, Home, and Messages apps, which can now be done away with. HomeKit is another area which the company has
The update will be available via OTA download for the following devices: iPhone 5 and higher, iPod touch 6th gen, iPad mini 2 and higher, and iPad 4th generation and the subsequent iPad Air and iPad Pro models.
macOS Sierra
Announced at the WWDC event back in June, macOS Sierra will begin rolling out on September 20.
In a bid to make Macs smarter and bridge the gaps between its mobile and computer operating systems, Apple has integrated the Siri digital assistant into macOS and most of the features from iOS are carried over to theMac.
Another highlight is the introduction of Apple Pay to web. Accessible via the safari browser, the payment solution can now be used to make purchases on the Mac. Other features include – universal clipboard, Auto Unlock with Apple Watch, iCloud Drive and more.
