Apple Reveal iOS 12, macOS Mojave, watchOS 5 and tvOS 12 Release Dates

Last week, Apple revealed the release date for the next major OS upgrade‎ coming to iOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS at its ‘Gather Around’ event in San Francisco. ‎The ‎Apple iPhone XR, iPhone XS and XS Max, and the Watch Series 4 were also launched at this event.

Starting September 17, Apple will begin rolling-out iOS 12, watchOS 5 and tvOS 12 while macOS Mojave 10.14 will be available a week later (September 24).

iOS 12

iOS 12 will include improvements to FaceTime (up to 32 people at once), Siri, photo search and sharing as well as a new Measure AR app and new Animoji characters and memoji for use in messages and FaceTime. The update can be accessed via Settings directly on iOS devices and there is another option of installing via iTunes.

Devices eligible for this update includes the iPhone 5S, iPhone SE, iPhone 6/6S series, iPhone 7/8 Series, iPhone X and iPod Touch (6th Gen). Others include all iPad Pro, iPad Mini, iPad Air and iPad 5th and 6th generations.

macOS Mojave (10.14)

macOS 10.14 aka Mojave is the successor to High Sierra. It comes with improvements such as a new Dark Mode, redesigned Mac App store, FaceTime call with up to 32 people and changes to the Finder app. Others include support for more languages and focus on security.

Like iOS 12, the macOS Mojave will be available as a free upgrade. Mac devices introduced in mid-2012 or later, and both 2010 and 2012 Mac Pro models with recommended metal-capable graphics card are all eligible for this update.‎

watchOS 5

watchOS 5 debuted with the new Apple Watch Series 4 and brings a number of features such as a Podcasts app, new Walkie Talkie feature, interactive notifications, competition activity option and new Siri face options.

watchOS 5 is only compatible with Watch Series 1, Watch Series 2, Watch Series 3 and Watch Series 4 but not the first generation Apple Watch. It requires iPhone 5s or later with iOS 12 or later. The software update can be accessed via General section in the Watch app for iPhone.

tvOS 12

Apple’s tvOS 12 will come with Dolby Atmos support, a new Zero Sign-On feature, new screensavers, password autofill, new Siri functions and the Apple TV shortcut will be included in the Control center in iOS 12.‎
