Along with the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, Apple announced the successor (or replacement) to the iPad Mini 3 – the Apple iPad Mini 4. The announcement was made within 30 seconds, the slate is said to pack all the power and performance of the Apple iPad Air 2 into a mini enclosure.
The Apple iPad Mini 4 is powered by the Apple A8 chipset with M8 motion co-processor with 2GB of RAM, instead of the Apple A8X on the iPad Air 2. It sports a 7.9-inch Retina display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels resulting in a pixel density of 326ppi.
The slate sports a rear facing 8MP iSight camera with f/2.4 aperture and a front facing 1.2MP camera (FaceTime HD camera). The iPad Mini 4 measures 203.2 x 134.8 x 6.1mm in dimensions and weighs 298.8 grams (Wi-Fi model)/304 grams (LTE model).
Connectivity options on the slate includes – Bluetooth 4.2, 2×2 Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac with MIMO. It is backed by a 19.1Wh battery which provides nothing less than 9 to 10 hours of web surfing. It runs iOS 9, has Touch ID and comes with Apple Pay.
The Apple iPad Mini 4 totally replaces the iPad Mini 3 but shares the same price as the iPad Air, it starts at $399 or the base 16GB model (Wi-Fi only) and the iPad Mini 2 is still around, the price is now reduced to $269.
The 64GB model of the iPad Mini 4 costs $499 and 128GB variant costs $599. The LTE models costs $529, $629 and $729 for the 16GB, 64GB and 128GB models respectively. Silver, Gold and Space Grey are the available colour options.
