Apple iPhone 6s announced with 3D Touch display, Apple A9 Chipset and iOS 9

Apple has officially announced the iPhone 6s; the device has the same design as the iPhone 6 but comes with some major improvements in internals like the new A9 SoC, main 12MP camera , iOS 9 and 3D Touch technology. It would be available in four colour options – Rose Gold, Space Grey, Silver and Gold.

One of the highlights of the Apple iPhone 6s is the addition of 3D Touch technology to the home screen. The 6s now not only recognises multi-touch, it also recognises force touch; the display recognises soft taps and harder taps and translates them into different functions.

The technology which works on the homescreen as well as within apps, has two main gestures – ‘Peep’ and ‘Pop’; Peep lets users preview information while Pop dives into the details. It also provides ‘Tactile Feedback’.

It sports the same 4.7-inch (750 x 1334 pixels) IPS LCD display with a pixel density of 326ppi. The power/lock button can be found be found on the right, the volume buttons on the left and the home button doesn’t leave its spot. It comes with 2nd generation TouchID which Apple says is twice faster than the first generation TouchID. 

The Apple iPhone 6s is powered by the Apple A9 processor which is 70% faster CPU performance than the A8, paired with M9 Motion Co-processor. The device runs iOS 9, there is a new charging dock accessory and internal storage options still stands at 16GB, 64GB and 128GB ones. 

The Camera is also all improved; starting with the front camera, it is now a 5MP Snapper from 1.2MP for selfies aand the LCD display also acts as a True Tone Flash/Retina Flash with the display going up to 3x the regular brightness when taking selfies.

The main camera has been upgraded too, from 8MP to a 12MP iSight camera – it record 4K videos, larger sensor, more phase detection AutoFocus and can shoot up to 63MP panoramas. It also has a new feature called Live Photos which is a bit of GIF like Video, it can be shared to Facebook too. 

In terms of battery life, the Apple iPhone 6s lasts up to 14 hours of talk time on 3G, up to 50 hours of Audio playback time, up to 11 hours of HD audio Playback time and up to 10 hours of standby time. It lasts up to 10 hours when surfing the net on 3G and LTE but lasts up to one more hour (or more) on Wi-Fi.

Pre-order for the iPhone 6s starts September 12th and sales starts September 25th in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, US and UK. 

In the US, the Apple iPhone 6s is priced at $199/$299/$399 on a two-year contract for the three storage models and the off-contract price is $649/$749/$849. In the UK, it costs £539/£619/£699 off contract and in Germany it costs €739/€849/€959 off contract.
