Along with the iPhone 6s, Apple also announced the iPhone 6s Plus – the successor to the first phablet sized Apple iPhone. The 5.5-inch sized device runs iOS 9, has a faster Apple A9 processor and other improvements. It is available in four colour options – Rose Gold, Gold, Space Grey and Silver.
The Apple iPhone 6s Plus keeps the same 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with a Full HD resolution, a pixel density of 401ppi and a tougher glass protection. It measures 138.1 x 67 x 6.9 mm in dimensions, has a 66% screen-to-body ratio and the body build is made from custom Aluminium alloy (Series 7000 aluminium).
The homescreen now comes with 3D Touch technology built-in; this feature allows the display to be pressure-sensitive – it responds to different nature of taps with different functions. The company’s Taptic Engine is also built into the display to provide feedback.
Moving to the processor, the iPhone 6s Plus is powered by the Apple A9 processor which is said to be 70% faster in performance than the Apple A8 and also has 90% better graphics performance. The new M9 co-processor is also paired to continue its job of activity tracking. Internal storage options are 16GB, 64GB and 128GB with no microSD slot as usual.
The Photography department has seen a massive upgrade the first since the iPhone 4S; it now sports a 12MP iSight camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Dual Tone Flash. The front camera is a 5MP snapper with Face detection and the display serves as the Retina Flash to help capture better selfies.
The iPhone 6s Plus has a feature called Live Photos and with the new camera users can edit and record 4K videos. Connectivity options on the device include NFC (for Apple Pay, Bluetooth 4.2, VoLTE, 2×2 Wi-Fi 802.11ac with MIMO support and LTE Cat.6 connectivity.
