Coming over a year after the launch of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (PRODUCT) RED special editions, Apple has announced the (PRODUCT) RED versions of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. Both models are now available in a stunning red finish with matching aluminum band and sleek black front.
The Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition join the existing Gold, Silver and Space Gray colour options. Asides the change in tint, both special models retains the same specs as the original and are already available on pre-order with shipping commencing on Friday, April 13.
The iPhone 8 (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition starts at $699 and $849 (£699 or £849 in the UK) for the 64GB and 256GB models while the iPhone 8 Plus (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition is priced at $799 and $949 (£799 and £949 in the UK) for 64GB and 256GB storage models.
While the Cupertino giant stopped short of announcing the (PRODUCT) RED edition of the iPhone X, it announced a new (PRODUCT) RED iPhone X Leather Folio made from specially tanned and finished European leather, along with cases for various iPhone models, and straps and buckles for Apple Watch in (PRODUCT) RED finish. The leather folio is already available and starts at $99 ((£99 in the UK).
As expected, a portion of proceeds from (PRODUCT) RED products go directly to the Global Fund for HIV/AIDS. Since partnering with (RED) in 2006, Apple has donated more than $160 million to the Global Fund, serving as the organization’s largest corporate donor.
