In time for the Christmas holiday, Apple has officially launched the awaited in-house made Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock. The accessory which retails for $79, is already on sale online via apple.com and has been available in apple stores since November 20th.
There are no shortages of charging docks for the Apple Watch, but one expects an Apple loyalist to use everything completely made by the cupertino giant. The Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock is powered through a 2 metres lighting cable which will charge the Apple Watch through the dock but the USB Power adapter is not included, which means one has to be purchased separately if one doesn’t have one (that’s unlikely).
The dock can be used to charge both 36mm and 42mm models of the Apple Watch; it can also be used to charge in different orientations – on its side or in a flat position with its band undone. The charging puck within the dock is adjusted (from flat to upright) to suit both orientations. When charged in the side position, the nightstand mode automatically activates itself and it can be used as an alarm clock.
The Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock is one of the more expensive Apple Watch charging docks around and it even costs more than the 3rd Gen Apple TV and the iPhone Charging dock ($39). But then again, anything Apple seems to sell but no one will deny their pricing is out-of-control.
